Dr. Upneet Lalli is a Doctorate in Psychology. Her \u00a0Ph.D. thesis dealt with \u2018Role of Motivating Factors in Judicial Decision Making<\/strong>\u2019.\u00a0 A Law Degree from the Department of Laws, Punjab University, Chandigarh has helped her in integrating the psychological aspects and legal realities. Prior to working in the Institute of Correctional Administration, at Chandigarh ,she has taught in the Psychology Department, Punjabi University, Patiala. Having a deep concern for custodial justice \u00a0she has worked towards increasing knowledge about new laws amongst criminal justice functionaries as well as bringing about attitudinal change with particular focus on treatment of offenders and motivating prison staff to take initiatives in prison reforms.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She has designed , conducted and organised training programmes for mid and senior rank prison officers, police officers, prosecutors .Invited for talks at various Universities,\u00a0 and training institutes. She has also been associated with policy making related to prisons and\u00a0 custodial justice issues. She has conducted various research projects for various agencies.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She has written a number of articles on the theme of Juvenile justice, child rights, prison reforms, police reform, gender issues. Publication include a book\u00a0\u00a0 on Women Victims of Crime ,Human Rights in Prisons. Edited a book on Clemency Jurisprudence. Chapter on Incarcerated Mothers\u00a0 in India.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Further to promote the social awareness about the hitherto closed world of prisons \u00a0she has held photo exhibition on prison that lifted the veil of secrecy\u00a0 that surrounds the system to educate the general public and debate about imprisonment as a mode of Punishment.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Widely traveled, she is a passionate for working for developing a more humane and just society.<\/p>\n
